Mother of HDP parliamentarian Aysel Tuğluk who passed away in Ankara Tuesday midnight, has finally been laid to rest in Dersim.
The body of Hatun Tuğluk, mother of Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Deputy Co-chair Aysel Tuğluk, has been brought to Dersim, after her burial in capital Ankara was prevented by the attack of a group of fascists.
Tuğluk’s coffin was received by a convoy in Dersim, and taken to the Cemevi (Alevi place of worship) of Haci Bektaş Veli Association of Solidarity and Cultural Promotion, where religious duties were repeated after yesterday’s in Ankara.
While Aysel Tuğluk was not allowed to join the funeral of her mother in Dersim, her mother’s coffin was carried by women to the cemetery in Dersim's Sihenk neighbourhood.
HDP parliamentarians Alican Önlü, Meral Danış Beştaş, Sibel Yiğitalp, Feleknas Uca, TJA (Free Women Movement) activists and hundreds of people joined the farewell.
After the burial, HDP Adana parliamentarian Meral Danış Beştaş held a short speech and stressed yesterday’s attack by a group of fascists on Hatun Tuğluk’s funeral in Ankara, and described the incident as similar to the massacre of 1938.
Beştaş noted that the Turkish state that dispatches hundreds of police to the scenes of press statements even when only a few people gather, has taken no action against the attack on the funeral in Turkish capital Ankara.
