HDP Co-chair Buldan: We will win together

HDP co-chair said hard work is needed to ensure the party will overcome the threshold.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair, Pervin Buldan said that “24 June provides the last opportunity for Kurds to turn their back to the AKP”.

Buldan was speaking in Istanbul on Saturday, at the opening of the HDP election office in the Esentepe neighborhood of Sultangazi district. “We need to work hard - she said - to make sure the HDP will overcome the electoral threshold”.

Buldan once again said that “the 24 June elections will offer the opportunity to change the fate of Turkey and its peoples” and added that “women should make the best out of this opportunity”.

Solidarity with the resistance

Buldan pointed out that the AKP will suffer the main loss in votes in Istanbul. “We all promised Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ, and those who resisted against the curfews. We will keep this word on 24 June”.

The HDP co-chair and Istanbul candidate, added: “We are not only Kurds in this country, we are young, we are women. We are women from 7 to 70. We are men. We have entrusted the candidates of this region to God first and then to you”.

Buldan said “the government is afraid of the HDP and Demirtaş. We say that Demirtaş will be president of this country. Those who are trying to prevent the HDP from entering the Turkish Grand National Assembly, those who arrested and sentenced our members of parliament, and those who seized our municipalities can be sure that we will enter Parliament with a much stronger team on 24 June”.

As for the expectations of the HDP for Istanbul, Buldan didn’t hide the party’s wish to get “two million votes in the city”.

The HDP co-chair ended her speech by reminding that “everybody thinks they can use Kurds to serve their own interests. But Kurds have turned their back to the AKP. The AKP will no longer get a single vote from Kurds, Alevis and young people. We are working day and night to ensure the number of HDP MPs elected will guarantee to overcome the threshold and to put an end to the AKP regime. We trust you. We trust women. We trust our peoples. We will win all together”.
