HDP files a criminal complaint against Interior Minister

HDP has filed a criminal complaint against Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu who insulted HDP Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş.

Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDP) has filed a criminal complaint against Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu over his remarks in a recent statement that targeted the jailed co-chair of the party, Selahattin Demirtaş.

In the criminal complaint filed to Trabzon Chief Prosecutor’s Office, HDP quoted Minister Soylu as saying “It is Selahattin Demirtaş who have the order for the murder of this country’s children on 6-7 October 2014”.

HDP accused the minister of “insult, incitement of the people to spite and animosity, and attempt to influence fair trial”.

HDP recalled that the AKP government, under which minister Soylu acts, rejected the parliamentary question that was submitted by HDP headed by Demirtaş, who is accused of having given the order for the killing of young people during 6-7 October 2014 incidents.

“In other words, it is clear who did not want the exposure of those that gave the order for the killing of the young people that Soylu mentions”, HDP noted.

The criminal complaint stressed that Soylu’s accusations constitute a right violation within the scope of Turkish Penal Code and international law.
