HDP MPs held ‘Peace Vigil’ in Parliament in solidarity with Güven

Deputies of the HDP held a Peace Vigil’ in Parliament in solidarity with Leyla Güven.

Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair and Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) MP for Hakkari, Leyla Güven, has been on an indefinite hunger strike for 91 days demanding an end to the isolation regime imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

As hundreds of prisoners in Turkey and dozens of activists started indefinite hunger strikes all around the world with the same demand, solidarity with Leyla Güven for the end of isolation continues growing.

Several HDP deputies including Co-chairs Pervin Buldan and Sezai Temelli held a ‘Peace Vigil’ in the Turkish Parliament, in Ankara, to express support to Güven’s demand.

The vigil started Tuesday evening, has ended this morning. HDP deputies said they will continue to bring up the hunger strike campaign and its demand to the agenda.

Speaking here, HDP Co-chair Pervin Buldan said the following; “We know well that Leyla Güven, who is on hunger strike for 91 days, and the hunger strikers in all prisons, have a great goal; end of the isolation on Mr. Öcalan. A particular attention should be paid to our action in order to avoid undesirable consequences. The isolation should be brought into question in Turkey’s society and the hunger strike resistance should be supported. We carried out this action in order that Leyla Güven and all other friends on hunger strike in prisons live. We will definitely bring peace, justice and freedom to this country and we trust that this will be possible only through the removal of isolation.”
