HDP to announce declaration for a solution of Kurdish question

The document will be presented in Amed on Wednesday.

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) will announce its “declaration for a democratic solution of the Kurdish question” in Amed (Diyarbakır) on Wednesday.

Speaking on the eve of the press conference, Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-Chair Berdan Öztürk said that the HDP will play an important role in the solution of the Kurdish question.

The HDP Declaration is expected to be made public in a press conference which will saw the participation of the party’s co-chairs, Pervin Buldan and Sezai Temelli as well as members of the Central Executive Board.

The Declaration will include the party’s blueprint for the solution of the most urgent and pressing question in the country.

The document is the product of years of policies devised and implemented - despite the repression - to ensure a democratic solution to the Kurdish question and not surprisingly it will be presented before the 24 June elections.

In the HDP elections manifesto, the party clearly states that “the democratisation of Turkey will necessarily pass through the solution of the Kurdish question”. In fact one cannot be without the other.

Democratic Society Congress (DTK) co-chair and HDP Ağrı deputy, Berdan Öztürk, underlining the importance of the declaration, said:

“The AKP-MHP fascist alliance was built on hatred towards Kurds. The HDP stance so far has been one of sincerity and dialogue. The HDP today represents hope not just for the Kurdish people but also for all the peoples of Turkey. The HDP - Öztürk added - will repeat tomorrow what it has been saying all along and will play an important role in the solution of the Kurdish question”.

Emphasizing that Kurdish national unity is the most important factor in the solution of the Kurdish question, Öztürk said: “We do not close the door to anyone” and called on all parties to support the HDP.
