HDP will take voters to combined ballots

Female HDP politicians say they will void the AKP-MHP practice of moving ballots to target HDP votes, and called on the public for support.

In the Kurdish region, the Supreme Board of Elections (Yüksek Seçim Kurulu - YSK) has moved ballot boxes in 19 provinces for a total of 144.000 voters. In Amed, a total of 66 neighborhoods in 7 districts will have the ballot boxes moved to police and village guard controlled areas.

KAPANCI: “BALLOTS DELIBERATELY MOVED TO POLICE AND VILLAGE GUARD AREAS”

Democratic Regions Party (Demokratik Bölgeler Partisi - DBP) Kayapınar District Co-chair Songül Kapancı spoke to Jin News and said the decision is completely political, and added that women will defend their votes on June 24. Kapancı said: “A thousand tricks have surfaced to push the HDP below the 10% threshold. The reason for the ballots being moved to police and village guard areas in particular is to create unease among the people and to prevent them from voting.”

“WE WILL TAKE VOTERS TO BALLOTS WITH OUR VEHICLES”

Kapancı stressed that women’s oppression during the 16 years of AKP in power has increased 100%, and the rates of sexual harrassment, assault, violence and massacres have doubled again in the last 2 years: “For the last 16 years, we have seen nothing but blood, tears, war, massacres and economic crises. We are faced with an order where the people get poorer and the government gets richer. That is why this government has to change now. Go to the ballots and vote, remembering that Mother Taybet’s body was left out on the street for 7 days, Cemile’s body was kept in the freezer. We will take the voters to the ballots with our vehicles.”

SUNA: “WE WANT SUPPORT FROM CITIZENS WITH CARS”

HDP Women’s Assembly member Meryem Suna said they are making plans against the moving of the ballots, and that the polling clerks and witnesses were readied right after the decisions. Suna said they will void this practice of moving ballots, and stated that they are certain that the people of Amed will fearlessly go and vote, no matter what. Suna said: “The YSK issued these decisions to make it easier to steal votes. But they forgot something, that the people will not let their votes be stolen. We will have our vehicles ready, and we do want support from citizens who have cars and other vehicles during this process.”
