Hearing of HDP Co-Chair Pervin Buldan held in Ankara

The court adjourned the hearing to 11 May 2022, deciding to request information from the Constitutional Court concerning Buldan's request for the abatement of the proceeding.

Co-chair of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), Pervin Buldan stood trial in the 12th hearing of the case against her. The court decided to request information from the Constitutional Court.

The HDP co-chair is accused of her statements during press releases and events she attended. Her lawyers Kenan Maçoğlu and Fikret İlkiz attended the hearing held at the Ankara 18th High Criminal Court. Buldan was not present in the courtroom.

The translation of a ruling of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) concerning 40 HDP deputies on February 1 was submitted to the court. The lawyers stated that they had applied to the Constitutional Court (AYM) against the rejection of abatement of proceeding in the previous hearing, and reiterated the same request. The lawyers also submitted the decision for the abatement of the proceeding against HDP deputies Ayşe Driver and Fatma Kurtulan to the court.
