Five prisoners are on indefinite hunger strike to demand an end to the isolation imposed on Kurdish People’s leader Öcalan.

Five prisoners are on an indefinite hunger strike for 10 days in Van High Security Closed Prison.

PKK and PAJK prisoners have launched a hunger strike on 16 December in solidarity with HDP Hakkari deputy Leyla Guven who has been fasting since November 7 in Amed prison demanding an end to the isolation regime imposed on Abdullah Öcalan.

In their statement the prisoners said: “Our sole demand is: Break the isolation on our Leader. For this reason, we declare that we will continue our action until our goal is reached.”

The statement also called on “all progressives, advocates of democracy, intellectuals, academics, writers, artists and all those who call themselves democrats to claim this honorable resistance and resist the Erdogan regime”.
