Hunger strike in Strasbourg on day 11

The hunger strike launched in Strasbourg against the aggravated isolation imposed upon Ocalan is on day 11. The protest has received many visits since the day it started.

The hunger strike launched in Strasbourg to protest the aggravated isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan and to demand Ocalan’s health, safety and freedom continues on day 11.

15 people including HDP MP Dilek Ocalan and various representatives from institutions are participating in the hunger strike launched with a press conference on December 17 in Strasbourg.

The hunger strike has received hundreds of visitors every day since it was launched in the Democratic Kurdish Society Center in Strasbourg. Leftist movements and associations from Turkey active in the city have been supporting the hunger strike, which received increased visitors due to the Christmas holidays.

DEMAND TO MEET WITH COE AND CPT

Hunger strikers in the unlimited nonalternating hunger strike aiming to break the aggravated isolation imposed upon the Kurdish People’s Leader relayed their request for meetings in the Council of Europe (CoE) and the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT), which have direct responsibility in the matter.

The hunger strikers passed on the statement they prepared regarding their protest to the CoE and CPT officials, and are demanding that the CPT visit the Imrali island as the only authorized institution to do so.

RETURNING THE VISIT FOR DIDF

The activists were visited by various institutions until the 11th day of the hunger strike and today they returned the visit for DIDF. Hunger strikers informed the institution about the purpose of their demonstration.

“WE WILL PREVAIL WITH A STRONG WILL”

Participant Kurdish Democratic Society Congress Europe (KCDK-E) Co-chair Yuksel Koc stressed that they will continue the hunger strike until the isolation imposed upon Ocalan is broken. Koc stressed that they will focus on success with a great will.
