Hunger strike launched in Mersin in solidarity with MP Güven

Solidarity with HDP MP Leyla Güven, who is on hunger strike in prison against the isolation of Öcalan, is growing.

A three-day hunger strike has been launched in Mersin province in solidarity with DTK (Democratic Society Congress) Co-chair and HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) MP for Hakkari, Leyla Güven, who is in the third week of her hunger strike against the aggravated isolation imposed on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The hunger strike in Mersin was launched by 15 people from HDP provincial branch.

HDP Urfa MPs Ayşe Sürücü and Nusrettin Maçin as well as a number of party members are supporting the hunger strike.

A statement by HDP Mersin provincial branch co-chair Mustafa Işık called attention to the practices targeting their party and the isolation policy of the Turkish regime. He said that Leyla Güven’s demand is also their demand.

“We call for an end to the war policies being implemented and to the aggravated isolation policy imposed on Öcalan”.

After the statement, the hunger strike started.
