Hunger strikers in Strasbourg visited by large crowd

In Strasbourg, France, the protest is continuing to demand an end to the isolation imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Activists have gone on hunger strike on 17 December at the Democratic Kurdish Community Center in Strasbourg where every day many visitors are welcomed.

The hunger strikers meet visitors, talking with each one individually, evaluating the political developments. Kurds living in France and beyond are strongly supporting this action.

Spokesperson of Darmtadt Peoples' Council Hatice Peshman said during her visit that it was embarrassing for Europe to let a hunger strike going on in so many cities. Embarrassing for Europe that is considering itself as the champion of human rights and freedoms defense.

"As Kurdish people, - she said - we condemn this isolation imposed on the Leader:  this isolation decision is not something alien to Europe. We greet all of our friends who are on hunger strike to support Leyla Güven."

Members of JXK / YXK Paris also visited the hunger strikers. In speeches made here, it was underlined that "the Kurdish people have suffered for a long time from severe isolation, and that the isolation imposed on Abdullah Ocalan is actually imposed on all people. The visitors also reminded the hunger strike under way in all prisons in Turkey and Kurdistan.

"Our people - said JXK/YXK - has a duty to undertake action wherever they are to ensure our Leader is finally free."

Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's lawyers have applied for the 775th times to visit their client and had, once again, their appeal rejected by Turkish authorities.
