Turkish Interior Minister Muammer Güler answered BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) Hakkari deputy Adil Zozani's written parliamentary question, dated May 21, 2013, on the construction of new military posts and road control activities in northern Kurdistan since the beginning of the democratic resolution process.
Interior Minister Güler said that the construction of 102 military posts is currently going on in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia Region. The Minister didn't mention the figures of the military guard posts whose construction have begun this year.
Güler remarked that the construction of military posts and other service buildings are going on in line with an agreement between TOKİ (Housing Development Administration of Turkey) and Gendarmerie General Command, signed on November 12, 2008, to meet the housing need of gendarmerie units, and for anti-earthquake reinforcement.
Answering another question on road controls in the region, the Minister said that "sufficient number of road control points are currently operative in order to help security forces to ensure security and public order ".
