Iranian regime detains earthquake victims

The Iranian regime has detained 7 people for letting people know what happened after the earthquake.

According to Rojhilat (Eastern Kurdistan) Human Rights Organization, two people have been detained in Kirmanshan, four in Bokan and Sardasht and one in Sine.

Reports say the reason for journalist Erjeng Zerguş’s detention was his photographs of the earthquake victims and that he posted them on social media. A video Zerguş shared on social media says, “Iranian authorities are betraying the people. They do not provide any services to people.”

Three activists detained in Sardasht are Rehman Medenî, Idrîs Mehmûdî and Selam Guknewaz. The reason for their detention is reportedly “propaganda against the Iranian government”.

Rehman Medenî and Idrîs Mehmûdî were released on parole.

Qasim Zergerzade was detained in Kirmanshan for recording the hardships the citizens faced after the earthquake and posting the footage on social media.

Mecîd Hisên was detained in Bokan for sharing news articles about the victims of the earthquake.

Şeham Ferhadî was detained in Sine for collecting donations for the victims.

Two of the seven detainees have been released on parole while five people are still in custody.
