Freedom for Journalists Platform has staged “standing human” act in solidarity with their colleagues standing trial in the so-called KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) Press Case. The seventh hearing of the case is being resumed at Istanbul 15th High Criminal Court today.
46 Kurdish press workers, 20 in jail, are tried in the KCK press case for alleged ties with the KCK organization.
Making a short statement after the “standing human” act outside the court, TGS (Turkish Journalists' Union) president Ercan İpekçi said they would never give up seeking justice for their colleagues on trial.
“We will be holding vigils for justice outside the Çağlayan Courthouse until 3 November when the court shall give a ruling in the case”, İpekçi said and added that they would also stage a protest on 5 November, “Stand Up for Journalism” Day.
