“June 24 elections will determine the future of society”

At a meeting in Darmstadt, Leyla Imret said that the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey represent a major turning point in determining the future of society as a whole.

The work of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) continues in Germany without interruption before the elections on 24 June in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan. In this scope, a meeting was held in Essen to bring together volunteers for the HDP who will be responsible for the safety of the ballot boxes. The participants were informed about the necessary measures to prevent possible election frauds.

In Darmstadt, there was an information meeting about the elections on June 24, at which Leyla Imret, the former co-mayor of Cizre (a district of Şırnak) spoke. Imret reported on the recent political developments in Turkey and the general atmosphere in the country. According to her, these elections will not only decide on the future of the Kurds, but of the entire society.

Imret explained that the 24th of June will therefore be a major turning point and therefore everyone will have to work with passion for the elections. "Our people must deploy all their skills and work together for our candidate Selahattin Demirtaş. We need to step up our fight for democracy. That's the only way we can be successful in the end, "said Imret.
