KCK: Everyone should work night and day in election campaign

The KCK Executive Council Co-presidency has called for mass participation in the 7 June general election campaign.

The KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) Executive Council Co-presidency has called for mass participation in the 7 June general election campaign.

The KCK statement stressed the importance of these elections, and called for mobilisation of the oppressed and democratic forces to counter the authoritarian tendencies of the state. The KCK said the forces of democracy in Turkey had an unprecedented opportunity to achieve an electoral victory and called on everyone to work night and day in an organised manner.

The KCK statement emphasised that the political future of Turkey would  be determined by the upcoming elections, stressing that the AKP and CHP were merely trying to protect their existing vote, and were not endeavouring to bring about democratisation.

‘HDP only party that embraces social reality of Turkey’

The KCK statement said: “The HDP has demonstrated with its list of candidates that it takes the democratisation of Turkey and a resolution of the Kurdish question as fundamental. It embraces the ethnic, religious and social make-up of Turkey, with all ostracised, oppressed sections of society finding a place within the party. Hence, great excitement has been created by the announcement of the party’s list. In order to turn the existing advantageous conditions into a democratic victory it will be necessary for everyone to work in a determined way. We wish success to everyone, particularly youth and women, involved in the election campaign.”
