KESK calls for participation in the mass Amed demo on World Peace Day

In a press release on the mass demonstration to take place in the main Kurdish city Amed on September 1,World Peace Day, KESK (Confederation of Public Workers' Union) Amed Branches Platform invited all the people in northern Kurdistan to join the demo at İstasyon Square.

Remarking that everyone has an important part to play for the advancement of the resolution process Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan initiated on Newroz Day, 21 March, Kasım Birtek, the spokesperson of the Platform, underlined that the Kurdish people had no choice but to enhance their acts and activities for the achievement of peace.

Birtek remarked that the NGOs and political parties in Amed made every endeavour to have the government take steps for the establishment of peace in the country.

Pointing out that the Kurdistan territory has lost its significant values during the 30 year-old war caused by denial and destruction policies, Birtek condemned the ongoing massacre of Kurds in Rojava and remarked that the ruling AKP government of the Turkish state was behind the attacks targeting the Kurds in Rojava.

Birtek said it was AKP's insincerity to negotiate with the Kurds in northern Kurdistan while following a different policy against the Kurds in Rojava at the same time.
