Kobanê Co-President: No one should expect us to surrender

The resistance of YPG and YPJ forces against ISIS gang attacks with tanks and artillery in the Kobanê Canton is continuing.

Kobanê Canton Co-President Enver Muslim said the intention of the gangs is to carry out a second Sinjar massacre in Kobanê, adding: "No one should expect us to surrender or abandon our land. We will resist to the last drop of our blood. The gangs will not be able to enter Kobanê. If necessary, we will drown them in our blood."

Around ten thousand people set out yesterday from the village of Midêba Biçuk, where YPG fighter Uğur Yürekli's funeral had taken place, to go to the solidarity tent with Kobanê set up in the village of Oğan in the Suruç district of Urfa opposite the village of Qeremok in the Kobanê canton of Rojava. When they arrived at the solidarity tent the people witnessed the resistance of the YPG and YPJ fighters as ISIS gangs attacked Qeremok.

As the gangs attacked the village with tanks and mortars, more than a thousand women, children and the elderly went to the border with the North.

For a long time Turkish troops prevented them crossing, as they went into a minefield and pressed up against the wire fence.

As the people around the tent on the other side of the border tried to help the people cross from Rojava, the troops attacked with tear gas.

After a short clash HDP Urfa MPs İbrahim Ayhan and İbrahim Binici intervened to calm the situation down. After Suruç district governor Abdullah Çiftçi arrived and spoke to the MPs the people from Rojava were allowed to cross the border and were registered.

The situation in Kobanê canton is similar to what happened in Sinjar. Old people and children are crying for those they left behind and a pregnant woman and a 90-year-old react angrily to ISIS, saying: "The Kurds have no friends left. They want us all to die."

Muslim: we are facing a second Sinjar

Kobanê Canton Co-President Enver Muslim spoke to the Dicle News Agency, saying they were facing a "second Sinjar", and called on the people of the world to immediately assist the people of Kobanê.

"All democratic people should support us. DAISH (ISIS) wants to carry out a massacre in Kobanê. If they are opposed to terror and massacres, they must provide us with support without delay," said Müslim, emphasising that no one should expect them to surrender or abandon their land.

We will resist to the last drop of our blood. The gangs will not be able to enter Kobanê. If necessary, we will drown them in our blood," said Muslim, adding: "All Kurds should look to Kobanê. We will resist and not give up Kobanê. I call on people to join us."
