KONGRA-GEL and KNK visit Strasbourg hunger strikers

In the speeches made at the tent, everyone was asked to fulfill its responsibility to ensure the removal of the isolation on Öcalan.

The hunger strike launched in Strasbourg, France on 17 December, to demand the end of the isolation imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan continues.

The 15 Kurdish hunger strikers from the four parts of Kurdistan have been visited by thousands of people for days.

Visits from Switzerland, Germany, Austria

Visits continue on the 14th day of the action.

Yesterdat the first visitors came from Zurich and Basel and St. Gallen in Switzerland. The executives and members of the Democratic Society Centers in these cities visited the activists and offered support.

In the speeches made at the tent, everyone was asked to fulfill its responsibility to ensure the removal of the isolation on Öcalan.

Among the institutions that supported the hunger strike, there were a number of institutions operating in Germany.

Among other visitors were the executives and members of many Kurdish and German institutions, such as Troisdorf Ekin Van Women's Council, Troisdorf International Culture House and Bonn Deutsche Culture House. During the visit international solidarity was praised and it was highlighted that women should raise the struggle against isolation.

A group of Kurdish citizens and institution administrators from Austria were also in Strasbourg to visit and support hunger strikers.

KONGRA-GEL and KNK visited activists in Strasbourg

KONGRA-GEL and KNK (Kurdistan National Congress) executives Remzi Kartal, Nilüfer Koç and Zübeyir Aydar and journalist Ferda Çetin were among the visitors.

Speaking here, KONGRA-GEL co-chair Remzi Kartal emphasized that the Kurdish people would be successful in reaching unity.

Speaking on behalf of the KONGRA-GEL and KNK delegation, Kartal added that the Kurds are facing a very important process.

"However, the Kurds should take different actions to turn these important processes in their favor," said Kartal who added that “We also see the hunger strike in Strasbourg as very valuable in this sense.”

Expressing that the Kurds have shown their will and determination with these hunger strikes, Kartal said to be confident that the actions will succeed and added: "Kurds will be successful by uniting around the Leader.”
