KONGRA-GEL Co-Presidency Council issued a written statement on the occasion of October 10, Global Day of Action for the Freedom of Abdullah Öcalan.

'RESISTANCE FROM IMRALI TO HEFTANIN NULLIFIES THE CONSPIRACY'

KONGRA-GEL's statement is as follows:

"For the first time in the history of the Kurdish people's struggle for rights and justice, a new balance of power was created in four parts of Kurdistan under the leadership of Rêber Apo [Leader Abdullah Öcalan] in the '90s, and this situation reached a level that disrupted the regional politics based on Kurdish denial led by the Turkish state.

In the face of these developments, some international powers led by the US started a plan that would redesign the Middle East for their regional interest, based on sacrificing once again the Kurdish people.

Through these sinister plans, the conspiratorial forces directly targeted the leadership of the movement in order to eradicate the PKK, which they saw as an obstacle to their regional plans. They wanted to make the Turkish state, which already has difficulty fighting against the PKK, fully dependent on themselves for their regional plans. Moreover, they wanted to remove a free Kurdish alternative by using it easily in their policies.

This was the goal of the international conspiracy that was launched 22 years ago, on 9 October 1998. However, the historic Imrali resistance of Leader Apo, the self-sacrificial resistance that started with the slogan "You cannot darken our sun" and culminated in 22 years with the martyrs of Heftanin, have prevented the international conspiracy from reaching its goal. On this occasion, we once again commemorate all our martyrs with endless love, respect and devotion, and say that it is time to realize their goals.

'FASCISM IS COLLAPSING, OUR CAMPAIGN WILL PLAY A HISTORIC ROLE'

The conspiratorial forces wanted to eliminate Leader Apo and the Freedom Movement he represented. On the contrary, Leader Apo and the paradigm he represented crossed the borders of Kurdistan, reached the peoples of the Middle East and progressive humanity. The struggle led by the Kurdish Women's Movement met with the world women's movements.

Colonial sovereign states, especially the fascist denialist Turkish state, are facing the worst crisis and chaos in all areas of life. The fascist Turkish state system wants to maintain itself with its war policies at home and abroad, but on the contrary, these policies make the collapse of fascism closer.

It is no longer enough to condemn the conspiratorial forces; it is time to completely remove the conspiracy plan. This plan, which was started with the captivity of Leader Apo, can only be completely replaced with the freedom of Leader Apo. Because freedom of Leader Apo means the collapse of the fascist regime in Turkey and the democratization of the Middle East the Kurds on the basis of the solution of the Kurdish problem.

For this reason, the KCK and KJK campaign initiated under the slogan "End isolation, fascism and occupation; time to realize freedom" will play its historic role.

In this process, the "October 10, Global Day of Action for the Freedom of Abdullah Öcalan” decision taken by the International Initiative Freedom for Öcalan is very important as it will be the start of this process. For this reason, we invite all our people and our friends to participate strongly in the rallies and activities that will be held on October 10, with the motto ‘It is time, freedom for Öcalan’.”
