Kürkçü: All dictators march to their own demise

HDK Honorary Chairperson and HDP Izmir MP Ertuğrul Kürkçü said: “We know of no dictators who didn’t fall or conclude their political and personal era. Erdoğan will be no different, and all of us are waiting for that day.”

HDK (Peoples’ Democratic Congress) Honorary Chairperson and HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) Izmir MP Ertuğrul Kürkçü pointed out that the Tayyip Erdoğan regime cannot survive without the State of Emergency and said: “History always leaves dictatorships behind, all dictators march to their own demise. We know of no dictators who didn’t fall or conclude their political and personal era. Erdoğan will be no different, and all of us are waiting for that day.”

HDK Honorary Chairperson and HDP Izmir MP Ertuğrul Kürkçü spoke to the ANF about the importance of the Conscience and Justice Watch that moved to Van after it was held in Amed and Istanbul and stressed that various groups organizing demonstrations to demand justice is are hinting at a great wave of civil disobedience in Turkey.

“A WAVE OF CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE IS COMING”

Kürkçü stressed that both CHP’s Justice March and HDP’s Conscience and Justice Watch are harbingers of a great incoming wave of civil disobedience in Turkey. He said that a great portion of the population in Turkey has openly stated that they do not consent to living under this regime of oppression with the referendum and continued: “The people do not want to reconcile with this regime in any way, and they don’t want an adventure. Rather than an all-out battle, they want to blockade the regime and leave it powerless to act as it pleases. As the HDP, we have launched the Conscience and Justice Watch to provide a political expression for this feeling the people have and to come together with social movements outside of the parliament.”

“PARLIAMENT IS FORCED TO COMMIT SUICIDE”

Kürkçü pointed out that the Parliament has been rendered obsolete by the AKP and has been forced to commit suicide, and stated that the streets have transformed into main spaces where the people can express themselves in this sense. Kürkçü stressed that these spaces where the people live, walk, talk to each other and express themselves should be transformed into spaces where protests take shape, and added that the Conscience and Justice Watch demonstrations the HDP launched in Amed and then repeated in Istanbul and Van are a manifestation of these efforts. Kürkçü said the watch has been received with great support by various groups in society, forces of democracy and political parties and that people have come to the parks despite the state blockade, stressing that the people coming together with the HDP could not be prevented despite an atmosphere of 100 policemen per person.

“Which means that the people as well as the state are aware that there is a potential that can respond to the call for Conscience and Justice that we have started,” said Kürkçü and added that the state is trying to prevent the people from coming together with their own ideas through the barricades, but has not been successful.

“THE TAYYİP ERDOĞAN REGIME CAN’T SURVIVE WITHOUT THE STATE OF EMERGENCY”

Kürkçü stated that Turkey is ruled by a regime of crime and, mentioning Devlet Bahçeli’s comments before the presidential regime was proposed he paraphrased as “This president is committing crimes every day, so let’s put the crime into law so it is no longer a crime”, said that the events of today can exactly be summarized like so.

Kürkçü stressed that the state used its own security forces to openly hinder the activities of the third party in the parliament and that it is committing a crime:

“They could only hide these crimes behind the veil of the State of Emergency. Thus, the Tayyip Erdoğan regime is presenting us with very clear signs that it can’t survive without the State of Emergency. It also becomes very apparent that under this State of Emergency regime, no one can expect democracy, justice or participation.”

Kürkçü stated that Erdoğan will be defeated in regard to the regime he wants to establish, like he was defeated in the April 16 referendum, and concluded his comments by saying: “History always leaves dictatorships behind, all dictators march to their own demise. We know of no dictators who didn’t fall or conclude their political and personal era. Erdoğan will be no different, and all of us are waiting for that day.”
