Kurdish youths in Europe to take to the streets for Öcalan

Ciwanên Azad (Free Youths) and Jinên Ciwanên Azad (Free Young Women) will stage demonstrations and marches from 9 August onwards in many cities of France, Germany and Switzerland, to demand an end to the isolation of Öcalan.

Ciwanên Azad (Free Youths) and Jinên Ciwanên Azad (Free Young Women) will continue also in the month of August the activities as part of their campaign ongoing since January for the freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, and will stage marches in many cities of France, Germany and Switzerland. The Organisation Committee issued a written statement on the planned activities, and condemned the isolation on the Kurdish People's Leader.

The statement stressed the aggravated isolation in which Öcalan is held since 1999 in the prison of Imrali, and called the hindrance of lawyers and family members of the Kurdish leader from paying him a visit, an attempt of the fascist Erdogan-Bahçeli regime to turn each day of the Kurdish people into a 'Black Day'.

CAMPAIGN FOR THE FREEDOM OF ÖCALAN

The committee stated that the youths of Kurdistan never rest from protesting the isolation, and said: "As the Free Youths, we repeat our commitment to Leader Apo. Because we know well of our history and are aware that we have much to answer to our leader concerning our deficiencies, we continue and extend our campaign of January with the motto 'Make Free' for the freedom of Leader Apo."

YOUTHS WILL TAKE ON THE LEADING ROLE

The organising committee gave the following information about the planned activities: "In regard to the many demonstrations that will be staged by the initiative of Free Youths, we call on all youths in Europe, on our patriotic people, our friends, socialist and internationalist organisations and all the elements to join the marches and activities on 9th, 12th and 19th August."
