Last day for Kurdish Film Festival

With the screening of an astounding 121 films, the LKFF is the only festival that brings together the largest selection of films from all four parts of Kurdistan and around the world.

Comprising 23 features, 46 documentaries and 52 shorts, the festival explores a variety of issues, including: human and women’s rights; war and political struggle; homeland, conflicts of culture, language, and identity.

My Sweet Pepperland is the latest film by Hiner Saleem. After the fall of Saddam Hussein, Baran, a Kurdish independence war hero, resolves to accept a position in a godforsaken village at the borders of Iran and Turkey, an illegal trafficking Eldorado. There he meets Govend, a beautiful young woman who has come to work as the teacher in the newly-opened school despite her twelve brothers’ hostility to the idea.
