Lawyers of HDP Presidential candidate Selahattin Demirtas have applied to the Constitutional Court today after the petition they filed for his release was rejected by the lower court.

Demirtas has repeated that he is held in Edirne prison as a political hostage and that the battle for his release would be a political struggle, not a legal one.

Demirtas has been in prison for over 18 months.
