Mela Davûd Övseme: Imprisonment of Öcalan illegal

Mela Davûd Övseme said that the Kurdish people's leader, Abdullah Öcalan, has been a prisoner for 23 years, and added: "We need to free our Leader. His imprisonment is illegal."

Civaka Islamiya Kurdistan (CIK) deputy President Mela Davûd Övseme spoke to ANF about the international conspiracy against Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Övseme said that the hegemonic powers put the conspiracy into action after they saw that Abdullah Öcalan had a very big influence on the Kurdish people. "Hegemonic powers such as Greece, Italy and Russia, which took part in the international conspiracy, wanted to break the hopes of the patriotic people. The Leader is always an influential person for the Kurdish people, whether in prison or outside. The conspiracy forces did not expect the Kurdish people to set their bodies on fire without blinking their eyes, and to organize major actions. They also did not predict that the Freedom Movement would renew itself after Öcalan detention. With the freedom movement and the Kurdish society renewing and transforming themselves, the organisers of the conspiracy realized that Abdullah Öcalan's physical captivity does actually not serve their purpose. They have not even allowed him to make phone calls in recent years because they know they cannot prevent his ideas and thoughts. If we widen the struggle, we will ensure its physical freedom."

Övseme added: "International Nobel Prize winners, intellectuals and writers supported the Time has Come initiative. We need to liberate our Leader now. He has been in isolation for 23 years and this is illegal. Everyone who rejects war, hunger and occupation imposed by the nation-state mentality should stand up for the Leader's paradigm. In Abdullah Öcalan's paradigm, everyone can see himself. Nature lovers, democrats, believers, women, children, everyone should embrace the Leader paradigm."
