Military activity increasing in the Kurdish region despite the ceasefire

People's Defense Forces Press Office HPG-BIM released a statement on the recently increasing military activity in the Kurdish region.

According to the statement of HPG-BIM, the military operation Turkish army launched on 14 September is still continuing in the Şemdinli region of Hakkari province. HPG-BIM also remarked that the Zap region in the guerrilla controlled Media Defense Areas, as well as Kato and Beytüşşebap regions of Şırnak have been shelled by the Turkish army in the last one week.

HPG-BIM listed the recent military activity in Kurdistan region as follows;

-The Turkish army launched a howitzer and mortar attack in the Kato and Beytüşşebap regions of Şırnak at around 6 a.m. on 18 September. The bombardment in the region continues.

- Another howitzer and mortar attack by Turkish military targeted the areas of Güvenlik hill and Kani Cenetê in the Zap region of Media Defense Areas in the afternoon on 17 September.

-Turkish warplanes flew over the Xakurke region at midnight on 17 September.

- Unmanned aerial vehicles of the Turkish army made intense reconnaissance flights in the Gabar region of Şırnak on 16-17 September.

-Turkish army has been laying an ambush in the villages of Dêywan and Baskır in Mardin's Kerboran district since 15 September. The army has also made attempts for cutting down the trees in the forested area in this region.

- The Turkish army launched an operation near the Museka and Efeler military post in Hakkari's Şemdinli district on 14 September. The operation was later expanded to the area of Adılbeg and Ronahi hill.
