More protests against Turkish attacks on Rojava

Swedish cities organised protests against the Turkish attacks targeting Rojava.

After protests in the cities of Uppsala and Helsingborg on Thursday, Kurds living in the cities of Gothenburg and Örebro also protested and condemned the Turkish state attacks against Northern Syria.

In Söderhamn a meeting explained the work carried out since the success of the Rojava revolution.

GOTHENBURG

Kurds and their friends organised an action in Brunn Park. The event started with a minute’s silence in memory of those who lost their lives in the revolution and the struggle against DAESH mercenaries as well as in the resistance against the Turkish state in Rojava.

Gothenburg Democratic Kurdish Community Center co-chair, Abdullah Konya, said that in the past, the Turkish state openly cooperated with DAESH to prevent Kurds from gaining status. Today, he said, they launched attacks against Rojava to eliminate those achievements made by Kurds and revitalize DAESH.

On 27 October, Turkey, Russia, Germany and France met in Istanbul, and immediately after the summit attacks on Rojava have begun. This is no coincidence, said Konya, adding that western countries are actually giving support to the aggressive policies of hypocrisy of the Turkish state.

Konya called on the progressive and democratic international opinion to oppose the European Union’s and Western states' co-operation with the Turkish state and to strengthen solidarity with the Kurdish people.

ÖREBRO

The action, led by the Örebro Democratic Kurdish Community Center, took place in the center of the city.

The press statement read by the Kurdish Center condemned the attacks against Rojava and called on the Swedish government to take action against the attacks against Rojava.

SODERHAMN

A meeting was held in the center of the city where developments in Rojava were discussed. Benny Gustafsson, President of the Kurdistan Solidarity Committee, told participants about the projects implemented by the Rojava Autonomous Administration after the revolution.

Gustafsson pointed out that the aim of the Turkish state was to eliminate the democratic model which is based on people's participation. He called on the audience to strengthen their solidarity with Rojava.

STOCKHOLM

An action in solidarity with Rojava will take place on Saturday in the Swedish capital Stockholm.

Organisers will celebrate the resistance of Kobane.

The action will begin at Norra Bantorget Square at 1 pm on Saturday.
