One killed in mortar attack in Serêkaniyê

One civilian in the Kurdish Serêkaniyê city in western Kurdistan was killed and one other was wounded after a mortar shell fired from Tal Xelef fell in the city on Sunday.

The mortar shell was fired from the Tal Xelef city, which lies two km west of Serêkaniyê, and has recently been taken by ISIS (the Islamic State of Iraq and Sham) groups expelled from Serêkaniyê. The mortar shell which fell into the Zorava neighborhood in south Serêkaniyê at around 11:30 local time killed 80 year-old Ebdulqehar Hisen and wounded 50 year-old Cemal Kenas. Clashes between YPG (People's Defense Units) and al-Qaeda affiliated groups are continuing around Tal Xelef and Esfer Necar village.

Armed jihadist groups are also launching mortar attacks targeting Urfa's Ceylanpınar district on Turkey's Syrian border.

According to loal sources, a remarkable part of the armed groups has reinforced to Tal Abyad which is witnessing fierce clashes between Jabhat al-Nusra and Jabhat al-Akrad, Kurdish Front battalion.

Around 300 civilians in the region have been kidnapped by the al-Nusra front which is also shelling Kurdish neighborhoods since early today.
