PJAK members on hunger strike for Kobanê

A group of PJAK [Partiya Jiyana Azad a Kurdistanê, Party for a Free Life in Kurdistan] members in the Danish city of Arhus have started a three-day hunger strike to protest against the ongoing attacks of ISIS on Kobanê.

The hunger strike which is being carried out in front of the Arhus Municipality building will end on Sunday.

In a statement about the strike, PJAK Spokesperson for Denmark, Mehdi Youssefi, said their aim was to draw the attention of Denmark and the world to Kobanê.

Youssefi said that; "Kurds are giving an honorable fight against inhumane ISIS gangs in Kobanê but the whole world remains silent. The voice raised for Kobanê around the world is not enough. We are starting a hunger strike here to break this wall of silence."

Also criticizing Turkey's approach towards Kobanê, the PJAK Spokesperson for Denmark said it was vital that  a corridor be opened into Kobanê and pressure be put on the AKP government to end its relationship with the ISIS.

Mehdi Youssefi stressed that it was everyone's duty to fight against ISIS.
