The commander-in-chief of the Deir ez-Zor Military Council Ahmed Abu Khawla said that their forces have besieged the ISIS gangs by taking al-Omar oil field under their control.
The Operation Cizire Storm launched on September 9 to liberate Deir ez-Zor territory from ISIS continues at full force. On October 22, fighters participating in the campaign were able to liberate al-Omar, the largest oil field in Syria.
Deir-ez-Zor Military Council Commander General Ahmed Abu Khawla spoke to Hawar News Agency on the liberation of the oil field al-Omar and the developments in the campaign.
Abu Khawla stated that the liberation of the oil field al-Omar came after heavy clashes with ISIS gangs in the villages near the field, after which fighters of the Syrian Democratic forces besieged ISIS gangs in the area extending from the town of Suwar to the area of al-Shuhail, located 6 kilometers north-east of the town of al-Mayadin.
The commander noted that the villages besieged by their forces are al-Bu’az al-Din, Dhiban, al-Harijah, al-Bufriyu, Ja`r and al-Basir.
Abu Khawla pointed out that the people stranded in the villages and areas controlled by ISIS gangs will be freed soon as part of the Operation Cizire Storm.
