Selma Irmak: We will not disappoint our people

Former HDP MP Selma Irmak has joined the hunger strike led by Leyla Güven. She said; "We will not disappoint the people who believe in us."

Imprisoned former HDP Hakkari MP and former DTK Co-chair Selma Irmak is one of nearly 300 prisoners in Turkey who have joined hunger strike initiated by HDP MP Leyla Güven to lift the isolation of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

In a recent message she sent from prison, the Kurdish politician said the following:

"In this righteous process, led by Leyla Güven, we are convinced that we will win in a passionate, determined manner. We will not disappoint our people who believe in us. The resistance in the prisons will create a new level of resistance with a new process."

Selma Irmak and DBP Co-chair Sebahat Tuncel, both of whom are behind bars, went on an indefinite hunger strike on 15 January.
