TUHAD-FED Ankara office has collected some 25 thousands signatures to ask the government to allow ill prisoners to be freed. TUHAD-FED has been campaigning for years to ensure ill prisoners get the care and help they need. So far the government has turned away from the request and the list of prisoners who died in jail is becoming worringly long.

TUHAD-FED Ankara representative, Havva Özcan, has reiterated that the aim of the campaign is on one hand to guarantee the release of prisoners with serious health problems and on the other to guarantee that they can access medical facilities and care while in detention. 

Özcan reminded of one of the many tragic stories of ill prisoners waiting to get treated. "Ramazan Özalp - she said - has undergone two brain operation and his basically handicapped in all his movements and daily life needs. Yet - she added - he continues to lie in prison".
