Tens of thousands of people march for Afrin in Cologne

Tens of thousands of people came together in Cologne against the Turkish state’s invasion attack on Afrin.

The Turkish state’s invasion attack on Afrin has been protested constantly in many cities in Germany and around the world. Today there are protests planned in 14 global cities from Canada to Japan against the Turkish state attacks. The biggest protest started in Cologne, Germany where Kurds from Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Hannover and the rest of Germany flocked in the early morning to participate in the march. Kurds in the country, leftist movements from Turkey, German democratic circles, Armenians, Circassians, Syriacs and Alevis are participating in the mass march that started at 11.00 with the slogan, “Against colonialist and invasionist attempts, Everywhere Afrin Everywhere Resistance”.

The march organized by NAV-DEM will last for some 2 hours and continue as a rally in the Ebertzplatz.

Women and youth are participating in high numbers while protesters carry posters of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, YPG/YPJ flags and many symbols for social movements from Germany and Turkey.
