The crisis in Iraq should be solved through dialogue and negotiations, a senior commander of HPG said.
People’s Defence Forces’ (HPG) Maxmur-Kirkuk Commander Yasar Hakkari, called on Kurdistan Regional Government and Iraqi central government to start dialogue and negotiations to solve problems in Iraq.
Hakkari pointed out that PKK doesn’t want a conflict in Iraq and said: “We say that the crisis in Iraq and South Kurdistan can only be solved through dialogue and negotiations. The threats and blackmailing by other countries will do no good. During this period Arab and Kurdish people suffered too much. We need to be aware of the traps by different countries and find solutions to our problems within our country. As PKK movement and People’s Defence Forces, we say once again that we don’t want war. We don’t want to see a conflict between Arab and Kurdish people. The conflict situation will harm both Arab and Kurdish people”.
Hakkari said that the attack on Kirkuk by Iraqi forces after the independence referendum didn’t bring any solution and deepened the crisis in Iraq. He warned the government to avoid plots by Turkish regimes.
“For years AKP government wants to deepen the crisis and chaos in Iraq and Syria to prolong its life. They want to weaken Iraqi government and KRG and implement its colonial policies” Hakkari said. He also said that the AKP sees the solution of its own crisis in the invasion of Iraq.
Hakkari called on both sides to find a solution to the problems by peaceful means and expel all Turkish forces present in Iraq.
