Thousands of women at Kobanê border

As the resistance in Kobanê enters its 72nd day women have succeeded in getting past Turkish soldiers and reaching the border village of Mehser on the occasion of 25 November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

Women from Turkey and North Kurdistan have converged on the villages  of Mehser and Miseynter near the Mürşitpınar border gate in Suruç district after being denied access by Turkish troops. Having been stopped on the road by soldiers, the women took alternative routes to reach the border, where they performed a folk dance.

This morning the women created a human chain, which has become a feature of the border vigil. They sang songs and shouted slogans and danced before going to the village of Dewşen where a march will begin. In addition to women from all over Turkey and North Kurdistan the Roboski mothers, university students, left groups and various NGOs have also arrived at the border.
