Kurdish artist Ferhat Tunç is on trial on charges of ‘propaganda for an organization’. The Court decision will be given today, Tuesday, at 11 am at the 36th High Criminal Court in Istanbul.

Tunç, is on trial for commending in his Twitter account all those men and women who fought against DAESH mercenaries in Kobanê, as well as Aziz Güler, who lost his life in this struggle. Tunç also has been charged for condemning the isolation imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and for celebrating the Rojava Democratic Autonomous Administration's presence in the Norwegian capital, Oslo. 

Tunç is charged with ''repeatedly making propaganda for a terrorist organization', charges punished with sentences ranging from 1 year and 10 months to 9 years and 4 months imprisonment. 

“I stand by my words”

Speaking to ANF, Ferhat Tunç said that “artists should not ignore people’s hopes and grief, but listen to them, voice them and get inspiration for new possibilities”.

Tunç said: "We may have been not so lucky for some time now, but such dark times have a chance to become permanent. I am determined to spend these times speaking, not remaining in silent, standing behind my beliefs. No threat will stop me".
