A statement by Turkish Foreign Ministry stated that Turkey supports the strikes against Syria by the US, France and England on Damascus where three targets were struck.

In statements yesterday and the day before, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said he had spoken to Putin and Trump and the situation was calm. Erdoğan hinted that there would be no attack on Syria. However, Ankara announced support for the attack soon after the strikes.

It is wondered what Moscow’s attitude towards Turkey, which acts in coordination with Russia in Syria, will be.

British Prime Minister Theresa May also announced their support for the operation against Syria.

May announced that British armed forces have been authorized to conduct coordinated and targeted attacks in order to degrade the Syrian Regime's chemical weapons capability and deter their use.

May said; “We are acting together with our American and French allies. There is no practicable alternative to the use of force to degrade and deter the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian Regime. This is not about intervening in a civil war. It is not about regime change. It is about a limited and targeted strike that does not further escalate tensions in the region and that does everything possible to prevent civilian casualties. And while this action is specifically about deterring the Syrian Regime, it will also send a clear signal to anyone else who believes they can use chemical weapons with impunity.”

French President Emmanuel Macron said that France had joined the US and Britain in an ongoing operation of strikes to target “the capacities of the Syrian regime to produce and use chemical weapons”.

“We cannot tolerate the normalization of the use of chemical weapons,” he said in a statement issued shortly after the strikes.

“The red line set by France in May 2017 has been crossed. I have ordered the French army to intervene tonight as part of the international operation in coalition with the US and Britain directed against the secret chemical arsenal of the Syrian regime,” he said.

In the meantime, US President Donald Trump said; "I ordered the United States armed forces to launch precision strikes on targets associated with the chemical weapon capabilities of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad," Trump said late Friday at the White House.
