It is reported that the police fired live bullets at protesters supporting the boycott of schools in the Bağlar district of Amed city last night. 2 people were wounded and 4 were arrested.

Turkish police opened fire on young people preparing an action in Bağlar in support of the schools boycott.

Youths ran off as plain clothes police and riot police attempted to arrest them, whereupon the police opened fire. It is reported that 4 people were arrested, 2 of them having been wounded. People protested at the arrests and demanded the wounded be taken to hospital and released. When people in the vicinity reacted angrily, there was a scuffle, and the police fired dozens of shots into the air. An elderly woman is also reported to have been roughed up by police. With the withdrawal of the police from the neighbourhood incidents died down but tension continued.
