Turkish soldiers kill another Kurd from Rojava

It has been reported that Ciwan Behcet, one of 3 people from Rojava who were caught by Turkish soldiers attempting to cross the border in the Şenyurt neighbourhood of the Kızıltepe district of Mardin province on Sunday, was beaten to death and his body thrown back over the border fence into Rojava.

According to DİHA, Ciwan Behçet, Meshut İsmail and Xıdvan Emin, from the village of Qerman in the Cizirê Canton of Rojava, were stopped by Turkish soldiers as they tried to cross the border to visit relatives on Sunday evening. The three were severely beaten by the soldiers and while Ciwan Behçet died, Meshut İsmail and Xıdvan Emin were seriously injured. Behcet's dead body and the two injured men were thrown across the border fence into Rojava.

Ismail Hesen, who heard that his nephew Ciwan had died, said Ciwan had been to Syria to get money from his father for a son who has had leukaemia for 8 months. On his return on Sunday night at around 1 in the morning he had been stopped by Turkish soldiers at the Karadoğan (Şali) border military post. Hesen added: "After they were savagely beaten, their clothes were removed and they were thrown over the wire. Ciwan died of his injuries, while Meshut's arm was broken and his skull fractured. Xıdvan is still receiving treatment in Dirbêspîyê hospital for blows he received to the head and body."

Hesen said they experience constant problems at the border, being shot at by Turkish soldiers when fleeing gangs.
