Two people have been remanded in custody in the southern province of Antalya for joining demos condemning the killing of Ahmet Atakan as a result of police violence in Hatay.

Antalya police had taken eight people into custody following house raids in a number of houses on Wednesday. Two among the detainees, who were accused of “damaging public property”, “resisting against police” and “blocking the traffic” were released after bearing testimony, while six others were referred to court, demanded to be arrested.

The court released four and issued an arrest warrant for two others, SGD member Fecri Atasever and Umut Baran.
