Violence against HDP members in İskenderun Prison

HDP members jailed in İskenderun T Type Closed Prison stated that they have been subjected to violence.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Dörtyol district branch held a press conference to draw attention to rights violations in prisons.

Speaking here, HDP Dörtyol district co-chair Abdülhalim Gümüş denounced increasing rights violations in prisons, calling the strip search imposition that prisoners are subjected to under the pretense of search an insulting and humiliating practice.

Gümüş said HDP former district branch co-chair Halil Baybariz, HDP administrator Mahmut Adar, HDP members Fikret Tekin and Uğur Anuştekin in İskenderun T Type Closed Prison and Vahit Tuna who was sent to Tarsus Prison told their families and lawyers that they had been subjected to violence.

Also referring to the aggravated isolation on Öcalan, Gümüş called on everyone that wants a peaceful Turkey to act against violence and isolation that constitute a crime against humanity.
