In a statement released on the website of the Kurdistan Democrat Party (KDP), party spokesman Ceifer Eminki defended that it was not the KDP but the regional government that denied PYD leader Saleh Muslim permission to enter south Kurdistan on 27 October.
Referring to the statements of PYD leader Muslim who said at a panel discussion at the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation that he was denied permission by the KDP, Eminki said Muslim targeted the KDP for no reason and added that KDP will maintain its relation and cooperation with Kurdish forces.
In a statement on Muslim's prevention from entering south Kurdistan, the Interior Ministry of the Federal Kurdistan Region said on 29 October that the border between west and south Kurdistan has been closed by the KDP, not by the regional government. The border gate remains closed since May 2013.
Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (YNK), the coalition partner of the KDP, has also reacted to the hindrance against Muslim and said they were not informed of such a decision. The Goran (Change) Movement and other parties have also responded to the denial of permission for Muslim's entering south Kurdistan.
Besides closing the border gates to west Kurdistan, the Turkish government is on the other hand building walls on its border to Rojava since September. The political hindrances which Kurds see as an “embargo” are making it difficult to deliver humanitarian aids to west Kurdistan.
