Women organise chain protest in Brussels

Women organised a chain protest in Brussels yesterday in order to condemn massacres in Sinjar by ISIS gangs and to show solidarity with Yezidi women.

The protest was organised under by the ABDEM women's commission consisting of the Socialist Women's Units (SKB) which is a component of the Centre for Peace and Democracy in Europe, Kurdish Women's Movement in Europe and women from the Alevi Women's Federation in Europe in Place de la Monnaie.

The chain protest of women who wore black started at 14:00. The women drew attention with this protest to the tragedy in Sinjar and the massacres carried out by ISIS gangs.

A statement containing a solidarity message with the Yezidi women who have been massacred, raped and abducted was distributed by the protestors. Women also condemned the silence of the European imperialists against the cruelty of the ISIS gangs.

The protest continued for over 2 hours and during the protest, the public was informed about the current developments in Sinjar, the tragedy of Yezidi women and, despite all the difficulties and shortcomings, the resistance of the Kurdish people against the ISIS gangs in the region.
