YPG (People's Defense Units) Press Centre has reported in today's statement about the ongoing fighting in Kobanê that the attacks of ISIS gangs aiming to occupy the town continued on the 70th day.
The statement remarked that YPG/YPJ fighters supported by the FSA-affiliated Burkan Al-Fırat and peshmerga forces with heavy weapons have recaptured some areas from the gangs.
According to the statement, the ISIS gangs have been made to suffer heavy losses despite the ammunition and weapon reinforcements they are bringing in from other regions.
Eastern front
The statement reported that an offensive was launched against the gang groups deployed around Sukul Hal, municipality and Azadi Square areas on the eastern front yesterday evening. YPG forces made further advance as they recaptured some areas occupied by the gangs following violent and intense clashes.
32 members of the gangs as much as ascertained were killed and large quantities of ammunition and arms belonging to them were seized in the fighting on the eastern front.
Southern front
The statement said that YPG forces last night conducted two separate offensives against the gang groups positioned between the villages of Helinc and Şex Çopan, 5 km to the south-east of Kobanê, killing at least 3 gang members and destroying two vehicles belonging to them.
YPG units also inflicted heavy blows on the ISIS gangs on the southern front where 3 motorcycles of the gangs were destroyed, and short-time battle raged out towards morning. 7 gang members were killed and 3 others wounded in the fighting.
4 gang members killed in Serêkaniyê
Also providing information about the ongoing operation in Serêkaniyê (Ras al-Ayn), YPG Press Centre said the military campaign initiated by YPG units in the South and Southeast of the city is continuing.
The statement said at least 4 members of the gangs were killed in an offensive that targeted the ISIS groups deployed near the village of Resm El Hacir yesterday afternoon.
One YPG fighter who got wounded in an attack of ISIS gangs near the Menacir village yesterday morning couldn't survive despite all the efforts made to save him.
