YPG liberates Elok village in Serêkaniyê
People's Defense Units (YPG) fighters have liberated the village of Elok, located seven km away from the Serêkaniyê city in western Kurdistan.
YPG fighters took the control of the mainly Arabic village at around 11 p.m. yesterday following two days of fierce clashes with al-Qaeda linked ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and ash-Sham) and al-Nusra Front.
The armed radical Islamist groups have reportedly suffered heavy losses in clashes with YPG militants who also seized the munitions of the groups.
Kurdish militia also killed a leader (emir) of the groups and destroyed a tank of theirs on Tuesday.
Al-Nusra leader (emir) Enes El-Midfi (Ebu Leys) had also been killed in clashes with YPG fighters in the city of Serêkaniyê on 14 September, reported ISIS linked Ebu Huzeyfe El Yemam brigade on its website on Monday.
YPG is expected to make a detailed statement on clashes in the Elok village today.
