Clans Council: An invading state shouldn't be in the "safe zone"

The Qamishlo Canton Clans Council members protested the Turkish state’s attempts to form a “safe zone” in Northern and Eastern Syria and said, “Turkey is an invading state. An invading state shouldn’t take part in the ‘safe zone’.”

The Turkish state continues invasion attacks and threats against Northern and Eastern Syria, and is aiming for a new invasion with the “safe zone” they want to form in the region. The Qamishlo Canton Clans Council General Officer Hewas Cedi said they want no region to be under Turkish state control and added: “Turkey is an invading state. An invading state shouldn’t take part in the ‘safe zone’.”

Clans Council Member Seid Ebdilxeni said the people don’t trust Turkey, who invaded the region and forced the people to migrate, and added that Turkey is known in the region for looting, pillaging, forced migration and policies to change the demographic makeup. Ebdilxeni said: “The people of the region are aware of the danger Turkey poses. The violence and crimes against humanity in Afrin are proof.”
