Coalition and SDF go on joint patrols in Serekaniye

Forces from the SDF and the International Coalition have gone on joint patrols today in the Serekaniye district in the Heseke Canton.

SDF and International Coalition forces went on joint patrols today in Serekaniye center today, reported ANHA.

The military convoy patrolled the district center and continued in the villages along the border with Northern Kurdistan.

On July 23, CENTCOM and International Coalition Forces Commander General McKenzie met with SDF Commander Mazlum Ebdi and US Special Envoy for Syria James Jeffrey met with Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar on border security. On the day of the meetings, a rocket was fired from Serekaniye to Ceylanpinar.

SDF Spokesperson Kino Gabriel issued a statement on the matter and said the person who fired the rocket was captured and the matter was under investigation. The SDF’s official position is that the incident aimed to provoke and create chaos.

Many analysts and agencies commenting on the incident pointed to MIT Undersecretary Hakan Fidan’s comments captured on a leaked audio tape in 2014 that he would “send 4 men into Syria if necessary” and have them “fire 8 rockets into Turkey” to create justification.
