Intellectuals and journalists condemn Turkish attacks on Rojava

Journalists, intellectuals and writers called on the global pro-freedom public to take action against the invading Turkish state’s attacks against Northern and Eastern Syria and their dirty policies.

The Free Press Union (YRA), Syrian Kurdish Writers Union and Cizire Region Intellectuals Union held a joint press statement and condemned the invading Turkish state’s attacks. The text was read by YRA Co-chair Evîn Yûsif.

The statement is as follows:

“Throughout Syria, in Northern Syria and in Rojava, attempts at a solution are being developed to end the war in the land. These attempts have intensified with the victories and developments in Northern Syria and Rojava, but the Ankara government, in their grudge, is acting to revive the Ottoman Empire. This has become clear in the most recent attacks by Turkey. These attacks are also aimed to stop the SDF victories and advances, and to prolong the life of ISIS terrorist organization by releasing some of the pressure on them.

The fascist regime in Turkey has been training gangs to void the Autonomous Administration experience that aims to end the war in Syria, and supporting them with money and weapons

The latest attacks against the Democratic Autonomous Administration territory is seen to have a goal of pitting Syrian peoples against each other.

We as writers, intellectuals and journalists from Rojava and Northern Syria condemn the international silence in the face of attacks against Syria in general and against Autonomous Administration territories.

We are calling on the global pro-freedom public to carry out voluntary efforts and stand against the violent Ankara regime.”
