Internationalist Commune of Rojava supports hunger strikes

“To break the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan is to defend the revolution of Rojava,” says the Internationalist Commune of Rojava.

With great will, activists in Europe and Kurdistan are continuing their indefinite hunger strikes for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan. The hunger strikes are led by Leyla Güven, a Member of the Democratic Society Party (HDP). Her strike started at the 7th of November at the prison in Amed, today it is the 72nd day in her hunger strike. In Sulaymaniyah, South-Kurdistan, HDP Member Nasir Yagiz has been on hunger strike for 59 days. 233 prisoners are on hunger strike in the prisons of Bakur-Kurdistan and Turkey for 34 days. In Strasbourg 15 activists are on hunger strike for 33 days.

On Friday, the Internationalist Commune of Rojava visited the hunger strikers in the refugee camp Newroz in Derik.

Together with hunger strikers they came to show their solidarity and to support for the 2 days of action called on by the Kurdish youth on the 19th and 20th of January  in order to break the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan.
