Kobanê people celebrate 40th anniversary of the PKK

The 40th year anniversary of PKK's foundation is being celebrated across Kurdistan and all around the world.

The people of Kobanê celebrated the 40th anniversary of the PKK with a big event at the Newroz Wedding Hall. 

The event, which was originally planned to take place in Martyr Egit Square, was moved to one of the city's biggest halls due to the weather conditions. 

Photos of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, as well as PKK flags and photos of PKK founders and executives, who lost their lives in the struggle for freedom, were hung all around the hall.

The event began with a minute's silence and was also celebrated in the surrounding areas, especially in Kobanê. 

People from 7 to 70 joined the event in Kobanê wearing local clothes, chanting slogans such as ‘Bijî berxwedana PKK ê’, ‘Bijî Serok Apo’, o ‘Şehid namirin’ and ‘PKK gele gel li vir’.

The speeches delivered by young of Kobanê, the Martyrs' Families and the House of Veterans underlined the struggle. 

The people condemned the decision by the US to put a bounty on three PKK senior figures and underlined that they would stand beside the party.

After the speeches, the event ended with music concerts and halay (Kurdish dances).
